ETHOS

Stars Pre-School Dogsthorpe provides a welcoming environment where everyone is valued and children develop into competent, independent learners. We are committed to providing all children with a happy, secure, caring and stimulating experience, which is tailored to their individual needs. We promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere where all races, cultures, genders, abilities and languages are respected.  We work closely in partnership with families to ensure that children’s needs are met. Throughout their time with us, through varied play and learning experiences, children gain the tools they need to thrive and become confident and independent, ready to start school.

SETTING INFORMATION

Stars Pre-school Dogsthorpe opened in 2012 offering 60 places for children aged between 2 and 5 years, term time only. We offer 15 hours of free government funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Funded hours can be taken daily between 8:30 -11:30 or 12:30 -15:30 or can be spread across 2 and a half days through inclusion of our lunch club. Lunch club costs £4 per day and runs from 11:30 -12:30. 30 hours funding is also available 9:00 till 15:00. Parent must provide a healthy packed lunch. Additional paid sessions are also available for children not in receipt of free government funding or for families wishing to top up their free sessions. Please see our times and fees page for more details or speak to the manager.

We respect and nurture all the children from our diverse community and currently welcome children speaking 8 different languages. Targeted support can be offered through the “Every child a talker programme”, translation and relevant positive imagery. Within our organisation we have staff who can speak a range of languages. This enables us to support children to communicate effectively and helps us understand what support, if any, families need.

Stars Pre-school Dogsthorpe was inspected in March 2017 and was awarded an ‘OUTSTANDING’ grade by OFSTED. We continue to build on our excellent reputation for providing quality inclusive care for the youngest learners in our area. (Please click on the OFSTED logo to view our report)
